As in the eponymous words of the Full Monty it’s just not your hat we are allowing you to leave on.
Ebikes have come under a lot of scrutiny in recent years due to high profile fires caused by cheap imports being left on charge but it’s not the case that they are any more of a fire risk than other electronic devices like your laptop you wfh with.
Many estates companies are now banning ebikes from storage in their buildings on the grounds of fire risk but we say no to all this pish posh. We regularly see people removing batteries from their bikes they’ve parked on the street and quite rightly so to avoid them being quickly broken off by thieves but in our Cycle hubs you can leave your battery on your bike. It’s not a fire risk if it’s not charging and we believe you shouldn’t have to walk around town dragging a 4 or 5kg battery.
Somewhere this owner is carrying a big bike battery around with them.
Unless you are intending on taking your battery away to charge up, where you should only do it while you or someone is present, then why should you remove your battery. You don’t see Tesla owners lifting the bonnet to haul 20 or 30 car batteries out of their vehicles because of fire risk, and I bet that over zealous building manager lets the boss park his brand new Polestar 4 in the basement car park.
Keep your helmet safe too while you go about your business, possibly one of the most awkward items you can carry, occupy massive amounts of space in your bags and you’d look a bit daft wearing it without your bike between your legs so leave it here in the hub nice and safe.
Our hubs are here to enable active travel while keeping your vehicle secure, dry and protected we won’t put barriers in the way of that.
