This is not what it looks like! Unless you’re talking about it’s beauty, then you’re absolutely on the money. This one was fun to build, starting with a very pretty Dave Marsh frame of Reynolds 531 tubing and an idea. I kept looking at the frameset, and the more I looked, the more I realised every fitting is modern and could take a modern groupset. So it’s now fitted with a 2x10 Shimano Tiagra groupset, Dia Compe brakes and even Shimano 105/ Campagnolo wheels. I’d argue this is the perfect road bike, all the benefits of a gorgeous old steel frame, from its gentle compliance to striking good looks, but without any of the draw backs old retro components.

I know you’re thinking there has to be a draw back, and so did I, I thought surely it has to be heavy. But no, it weighs in at just under 9Kg making it actually lighter than most entry to mid level modern road bikes.
